Here is one of the most beautiful and underrated example of American (actually colonial America) glass you can buy. The beauty and rarity of these early Steigel pieces are unmatched! Blown at Steigel's glass factory loacted in Manheim PA, circa 1770s, this example is a bright medium amethyst color. The diamond daisy pattern can be seen around most of the bottle... I would say the embossing is average to very good. The base is somewhat plump, with a broken pontil mark. The top is sheared and refired. Condition is excellent, a few very faint scratches here and there. It is amazing that these bottles lasted for 230 years! Certainly an important piece of early American glass!
